7. Beautiful Lake Horicon

The Borough's shining jewel. Horicon is an Indian word meaning "silvery waters". The 60 acre lake is used for fishing, boating, swimming, and ice skating in the winter.
The reflections of Fall colors are especially breath-taking in the tea-colored, reddish water.

A walk around Lake Horicon is beautiful at any time of the year. Stop for a spell and enjoy the view.

The water is typical of the cedar water found in the Pine Barrens. A picnic and playground area are available, as well as a pavilion and fire place to warm one's self after a cold day of ice skating. A lifeguard is on duty during the summer months to protect swimmers. Often, special events, such as flea markets, craft shows, and an antique fire apparatus muster are held along the shores of Lake Horicon. It is also the site of a grand, old-fashioned Fourth-of-July celebration.
